The reading group

I’ve got my pre-publication reading group together now, comprising of most of my children and other family members. I might add other people as we go along, but for now it feels like enough.

I’m sharing book one with them as I record the audio draft version, so that they have the choice of reading by text, or listening to me, reading the chapter out loud.

There hasn’t been much feedback yet. I can’t decide if they hate it and are too polite to say, or if they like it, but are waiting for someone else to say, or if they’re just busy. Or waiting for more of the story to get their teeth into, before they want to share their opinion of it.

I’ll be [uncharacteristically] patient and plod on, regardless!

I am finding that sharing the work gives me even more incentive to make it right. I’ve listened to the chapter 1 rendition several times now and made new edits every time. The recording and the pre-published sharing are both really useful editing tools.
