About the author

Gill Kilner lives on a windy Yorkshire hilltop with her family and some cats.

She has wanted to be a writer – and has often been writing – since early childhood and came up with the concept of History Maps in conversations with her son Tom (he tells her!) several years ago.

Gill is the mother of five children, now mostly adults, the wife of precisely one husband and the feeder of three cats who would probably have preferred this list to have been in reverse order.

Gill home educated her children and got quite into that! Including campaigning for freedom in education and writing, between 2007 and 2014, a regular column in The Green Parent magazine. In earlier years, she was at times a trainee martial arts teacher and a pub landlady.

Gill went to school in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, where she made some dear friends but fell out with the concept of school.

Gill’s life is good and she’s inordinately excited to finally have a published book to sell.

You can find out more – probably far more than she ever intended to reveal – here in the blog, on her TikTok and Facebook pages and probably soon on Youtube, whenever she gets that organised.
